Wedding Arrangements

(Picture was taken from the bell tower window.)

There are few more inspiring occasions than a Christian wedding.  For the bride and groom, their families and friends, this is an exalted time of celebration.

The staff of The Church in Aurora is glad to share in this significant ceremony and to contribute to the happiness of the couple as they exchange their vows before God and one another.

We also welcome couples who are not of our membership, but who sincerely seek God’s blessing on their relationship and wish their wedding to be in keeping with the faith and practice of this church.

Some of the guidelines on the nature of the worship service, the music, the use of the sanctuary, photography, flowers and other aspects of the wedding ceremony are highlighted below.

Our Ministers have final authority on any matters pertaining to the wedding ceremony and the use of the building.

Early Arrangements

1.      Call the church office, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., at (330) 562-8266 as soon as possible to discuss dates and times with the Church Secretary in order to avoid conflicts with previous appointments on the church calendar.

2.      One of our Ministers must serve as the primary officiant.

3.      Speak to one of our Ministers to establish a firm date and set up an initial consultation for pre-marital counseling and wedding preparation.

4.      If organ music is used in your ceremony, our organist must provide it.  Contact the Organist as soon as possible to make sure he/she is available for your wedding date and for assistance in choosing appropriate music and recommendations on soloists if needed.

5.      Call the church office to obtain a phone number for the organist.

Important Information

1.      The Marriage License should be delivered to the church two weeks before the wedding.  Application for a Marriage License should be made to the residing county’s Probate Court no more than 60 days prior to the marriage ceremony.

2.      Normally the church will be opened one hour before the scheduled ceremony time and closed one and one-half hours after the ceremony begins.

3.   Rehearsals last approximately one hour.  Promptness at the rehearsal and marriage ceremony is vital.
