Circles There are four circles (A, B, D, 3-H AM & 3-H PM) under the umbrella of the Women’s Guild. Circle A meets at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Meetings consist of devotions, a program and refreshments planned by one or two members. Circle A meets in Fellowship Hall, members’ homes or a local restaurant. Annual dues are $20. During 2005 we served the Guild luncheon in April. We supported the Volunteers of America throughout the year by bringing donations of food to each meeting. This year, due to a drastic shortage at the food cupboard, we made a special donation of $125 and purchased non-perishable foods to help replenish the supply. We also donated $400 to the Youth Workcamp. At Christmas we adopted a family and gave them a gift certificate, gifts for the children, and prepared a food basket. Circle B meets at noon the second and fourth Monday of each month. This circle is made up of women, who like to play Duplicate Bridge. This circle pays no annual dues but takes a collection from our members to defray expenses for cards, printed score sheets, etc.. Our regular roster is full at this time but we are always happy to have additions to our substitute list. Circle D meets for lunch at noon the first Wednesday of each month (except January). Circle D will resume its meetings on Wednesday, September 6th, at noon at the Aurora Country Club. If you would enjoy an afternoon, beginning with a lunch, followed by devotions and a short meeting, then some "fun" bridge or SkipBo – join us! Call 562-9253 for reservations. Everyone is welcome. Meetings consist of devotions and an afternoon of fellowship, playing Bridge for “fun” or Skip-Bo. Circle D meets in members’ homes, a club or a local restaurant. They meet September through June. More new members are most cordially invited to join us and may do so by contacting any of the persons listed below. We prepared the luncheon for the November Guild meeting. Throughout the year "sunshine" cards are sent to members who are ill and memorials placed for the deceased members or their spouses. Annually, a gift is given to the church through Women's Guild. Circle D has a history of supporting projects in the church and has initiated projects and carried them through as fund raisers. 3-H Circles (Helping Hands bring Hope) Circle 3-H is the newest circle under the umbrella of the Women’s Guild of The Church in Aurora. This circle was formed in April 1999, after a strong need was felt for a “hands-on” group and 25 women enthusiastically expressed the desire to help others and give of themselves. Thus was born the name 3-H, which stands for Helping Hands bring Hope and that’s exactly what they do. Circle 3-H AM meets at 9:30 AM in Fellowship Hall on the first Friday of each month from August through May; no meeting in January. There are a variety of opportunities to serve the Lord - to make new friends - and to contribute some of your time to comfort and help others. Come, join us. A welcome awaits you at any time. Meetings are varied and may include speakers on relevant subjects, work projects and field trips. Annual dues are $20.

CIRCLE 3-H PROGRAMS FOR 2009-2010 Join the fun, bring a friend and hear the exciting plans for the year.
Don’t forget your $20 dues. And, oh yes, also please remember to continue working on the afghans for young and old. For more information call Lillian P. at 7104. 3-H PM, an evening circle, meets from 6:30 - 8:30 PM on the Thursday following the second Wednesday of each month in the Stephen Ministry Room.
This is a group of young moms to grandmas who spend the evening together making blankets for residents at Miller House as they share with one another through topical Bible study and life experiences. In addition to varied service projects, the evening agenda includes opportunities for growth through a self-study series. Mission Statement “The Mission of Circle 3-H is to use our Hands as an outreach through Christ to give Help and bring Hope to those in need.” “… for I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me. I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me.” Matthew 25:35-38 KJV “They will know we are Christians by our Love” Perhaps you have ideas for extending your hands to others. Come join us and share your thoughts. A welcome awaits you, any time. Through the work of Circle 3-H, the efforts of the Missions Committee and the generosity of others, the Volunteers of America, VOA food pantry, sorting room and basement storage area have undergone major renovation. Today, with the vastly improved working area, many women are helping to organize and continually stock the storage centers and retail shop. There are never enough hands for these jobs. Beginning June 2006, the 3-H Circle is reestablishing a program to collect men's toiletries for the shelters. A basket will always be available in The Great Hall to receive your donations of disposable razors, shaving lotions and creams, deodorants, tooth brushes, tooth paste, bar soap, towels, wash cloths, toilet paper and paper towels. This will be an ongoing project to help these men. Please look for the basket near the Missions display board. Our thanks to you all. On an entirely different front, Circle 3-H is working to meet the many needs of Aurora Manor. Members of our circle have participated in the creation of tray and table decorations in addition to some women working in the Gift Shop, where help is always needed. Extending the personal touch to these shut-ins has enriched the lives of both giver and receiver. Circle 3-H’s “Helping Hands” continually show love by creating handmade afghans, baby blankets, bibs and comfort pillows. These are given to local organizations, for their needs, throughout the year. Our members have also prepared bandages for another Ministry. |
