Toni Harris, our Christian Education and Youth
Director, has been a member of The Church in Aurora
for 28 years, joining when she first moved to Aurora to marry
Bob, who grew up attending our church. Toni and Bob have a
daughter, Katie, who is married and living with her husband,
Chance, at Fort Knox, KY, where he is serving in the military.
Born in
South Bend, Indiana, Toni spent her childhood in the neighboring
town of Elkhart, moving to the San Francisco Bay area with her
family as a youth. In both “home towns”, her family was
immersed in church life, her parents taking proactive roles in
Church School, Vacation Bible School, Church Drama, Church Camp
and Youth Groups. Because of her parents’ involvement, she was
active in all aspects of church life from a very young age.
Toni is a
graduate of Texas Christian University and holds a Bachelor of
Music Degree.
Toni has
been an active volunteer at The Church in Aurora over the last
28 years. She was instrumental in creating Nutcracker Sweets in
1981, heading the Women’s Guild Committee that ran the craft
show during its first three years. She has been chairperson of
the Deaconesses and the Elders and has been the director of the
Littlest Choir for the past 19 years.
She and Bob
have been active in the International Council of Community
Churches where in 2003 she planned and directed their Annual
Conference in Cleveland.
