 Care Team

The CARE TEAM was implemented in December of 2002 by members of the Long-Range Planning Committee.  Since then, over 60 trained volunteers have provided countless hours of service to members of our church community.    Under the direction of Rita Suchanek, volunteers rotate assisting church attendees in need. 

Referrals are received from the church office, ministers, other members and/or care receivers directly.  Examples of service by this ongoing local mission project include the following:

• Preparing and delivering meals

• Home/care facility visitations and phone calls

• Delivering CDs of weekly worship services and special services (these can be obtained from the library or call Rita) 

• Transporting care receivers to medical and personal appointments

• Running errands, including prescription and grocery deliveries

• Training volunteers

• Sending greeting cards (many as follow-up after initial phone contact)

• Giving leads to Stephen Ministry or appropriate agencies outside of church

Our main focus this year has been on meal preparation and driving to Dr. appointments, as we had several families undergoing extended illnesses.  It is our sincere hope that this worthwhile program will continue for many years, nurturing and strengthening the many friendships that have been formed among the attendees of The Church in Aurora.

Allow the CARE TEAM to assist you if you find yourself in a temporary, urgent situation in which your friends, family or usual back-ups aren't available to help you.
