Kevin is a native of northeast Ohio having been born and raised in the Akron area.  He attended the University of Akron where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education specializing in Educational Media.  After several years teaching in the Barberton school district, he entered Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts where he received a Master of Religious Education degree.

In the summer of 1981, Kevin was called to The Church in Aurora, to serve as the Director of Christian Education.  Originally this was a non-ordained position which was responsible for all of the church programming outside of the Sunday morning worship services for children, youth and adults.

To prepare for an ever-expanding role, Kevin enrolled at Ashland Theological seminary in Ashland, Ohio where he completed his Master of Divinity degree in the spring of 1988.  Ordained by the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. in 1989, The Church in Aurora extended Kevin a call to serve as the Associate Pastor.  Rev. Horak continues to serve the church in this capacity with an emphasis on pastoral care, education and details.

Kevin is married to Kathleen (his junior high school sweetheart) and they have two adult children, Hannah and Sarah, and five rescued kittens.  When his free time affords, Kevin is active in the local community theatre and looking-over-the-shoulder of professional home improvements.
