Chrismon Tree

The Chrismon Tree originated in 1957 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, Danville, Virginia.  From that beginning, the idea has spread to Christians all over the world.

The evergreen tree, which symbolizes the eternal life which our Saviour has won for us, is a background for tiny white lights and white and gold Chrismons.  The lights speak of Him who is the light of the world, and the Chrismons (CHRISt-MONograms) proclaim the name, the life and the saving acts of Jesus the Christ.

Some Chrismons are simple copies of symbols of Christianity from its earliest days, others are new explanations of God's never-changing presence in our ever-changing world,  and some are combinations of several parts, new and old.

Hanging of the Greens

Sunday, November 23rd, at 12:30 PM – The Season of Advent begins at the church on Sunday, November 23, at 1:00 with the traditional "Hanging of the Greens."  This church-wide event is sponsored by the Fellowship Committee.  Many hands make less work (and much more fun!) as we decorate the Sanctuary, Great Hall, and lawn with beautiful reminders of why we celebrate Christmas.  Activities will be provided for the children in the Fellowship Hall.  We'll join together for a meal.
